Have you ever donated plasma? Thought I'd give it a whirl, since word on the streets is that they are especially in need of people's plasma if you've had COVID.
So I scheduled an appointment and went last Saturday morning. After almost an hour of waiting, I went back into a room to talk with the nurse's assistant and gave my required proof of who I am.
Assistant: Sorry... your Social Security card shows your maiden name & everything else you gave me shows your married name.
Me: Uhh... I've had that card since I was a kid.
Assistant: Well, I'm going to need a marriage certificate, copy of your divorce decree or maybe a copy of your taxes from last year... something showing your current name + Social Security number.
Me: Ok... I live about 5 minutes away. I could go home & look for something, but I definitely don't have a copy of my marriage certificate. My ex-husband has that.
Assistant: Ok, go get it and I'll get you back into line when you return.
Fast forward to 2 1/2 hours from the start of my appointment time, I've given my additional proof, answered the online questionnaire and then talked to the admitting nurse... only to be sent home because they now need to write my doctor for records regarding my history of PVC's (premature ventricular contraction)... aka. occasional irregular heartbeat.
Really??
So today... I went to my doctor per my doctor's request to see me for blood pressure, EKG & possible blood work (which they didn't end up needing).
Think I'm good to go now, since my EKG was perfectly normal, but we'll see if the plasma place calls me back for a new appointment as they stated when I left the other day.
And all I can say is that I will have earned EVERY cent of whatever they pay me after all the hoops I've jumped through so far.
I mean I love hoops, don't get me wrong, but I prefer them hanging from my ears.
In other news though, I woke up this morning to a notification on my lock screen to watch this new video by for King & Country. I shared another one of their songs on my blog about 6 months ago... "Together." It's an AMAZING song. I'm also a huge fan of their version of the Little Drummer Boy.
But this morning after this video, I've officially decided they are on my bucket list to see them in concert. WOW!
I've seen a LOT of concerts in my time. The amount of money I've spent on music... albums, cassette tapes, CD's, iTunes & concerts in my lifetime is probably insane in the membrane.
In fact here's a little bit of trivia that will show my age... my first concert ever was the Go Go's at The Muny in 1984... I was 15.
Here's something else that will show my age.
I don't have it anymore, but I googled a picture and this is what my first record player looked like if I still had it. I played the hell out of it until I got older & finally got a bigger stereo that played albums AND cassettes. LOL
I've only attended one other Christian Rock concert, but I'm putting it out there in the universe that for King & Country is happening at some point.
So be it...
XOXO
