Stuart Smalley might be a character that got a few laughs, but in all seriousness, he did have some sage advice.
Your mind is VERY powerful.
Positive thoughts or negative thoughts. You may not always be able to control how your day goes... but you CAN control where your mind goes. You CAN decide what you give power to & train your mind to focus on the good.
When you're feeling the urge to allow other people's words or negative situations to take residency in your head, take a moment to acknowledge it & redirect your attention.
Here are some empowering affirmations that may help in your thought process...
- My strength is greater than any struggle
- I'm fearless
- I'm getting stronger every day
- I'm in awe of what my body is capable
- I can do this
- I was not made to give up
- I am who I want to be
- No one can make me feel inferior
- I've discovered that I am fierce
- I know my worth
- I inspire others
- I do not fear the fire... I am the fire
- I choose what I become
- I've decided that I'm good enough
- I'm brave enough to climb any mountain
- I wink at a challenge
- I have the power to change my story
- It's not their job to like me... it's mine
- I use my failures as a stepping stone
- I have the courage to say NO
I didn't write this list, but man do I LOVE it.
If you're the praying type and find strength in Bible verses, my favorite to fix my own thoughts is "She is clothed in strength & dignity and she laughs without fear of the future. " Proverbs 31:25
In fact, I asked Bryn to make something to hang on the wall for me so I could see it daily. She has great printing & handwriting...
Empowering affirmations, goals and positive thoughts can be even more effective if you keep them in daily sight.
Make a vision board.
Add a sticky note to your mirror.
Hang something on the refrigerator with a magnet.
Keep a daily affirmation journal.
Start a private board on Pinterest.
There are so many ways to create an avenue for positive images to take up more residency in your head, than to allow the chatter of toxic things meant to bring you down.
It will in fact bring you down. But YOU decide whether you allow it.
There's a fun high-energy song I do in Zumba... "Level Up" by Ciara. The lyrics are actually very empowering if you listen to them.
And well... just getting through that song at full throttle is pretty empowering too.
Speaking of which... it's Tuesday...
XOXO
Love the sign!
