Happy Halloween!
It's going to be a cold one for Trick-or-Treating! My how the weather has taken a dramatic change since the 80 degree weather on Monday. Bryn is going to a Halloween party tonight & walking the neighborhood with her friends, but I'll be giving out treats in my WARM house, while having a glass of cold wine. LOL
Started my day off with a rockin' Zumba party... afro & all... which by the way, somehow managed to stay on for the entire hour. And before I started class I announced... "Ok, if my wig flies off or I split my pants... the rule is we just keep dancing! Oh & if I screw up my new warm-up... just free-style!" LOL Love that Friday class! Such a fun way to kick off the weekend every week!
A couple weeks ago, I saw a link to an article either on Facebook or Pinterest about the Teal Pumpkin Project for food allergies. Having a daughter with severe food allergies (dairy, eggs, peanuts & tree nuts), it caught my attention. Here's a couple links here and here if you haven't heard about this. Basically though, if you have a teal pumpkin on your front porch, that indicates that you have allergy free candy or "treats" (could be stickers, pencils, etc) to offer.
I can't even say how cool I think it is, that something like this has caught on with media attention. Every year that Bryn has gone out Trick-or-Treating... more than half her bag of treats, she can't eat. Not that she's missing out on anything healthy, mind you, it's just that it's always kind of a downer.... maybe more so for me than her, as that's all she's ever known her whole life. She's always been so sweet about it though, saying, "Oh this one's for you, Daddy, or you'll like this one, Mom." Almost makes me cry.
Anyway, Bryn painted a pumpkin with teal paint (it's a fake one we got from Michaels so we'll be able to use it every year)... and she also carved one of our pumpkins & added some embellishments.
Thank goodness for Bryn's craftiness... as I clearly must be too busy getting down & boogie-ing to get anything else accomplished.
And speaking of Pinterest... I found this idea on there & had it ready for Bryn's breakfast today...
Bananas with dark chocolate chips (no dairy) & tangerines with celery for the stems. She told me the tangerines tasted like celery. LOL It's all I could find in my refrigerator that was green.
Ok so maybe I do accomplish something other than Zumba lately?
Shockingly enough... I'm getting up to teach Zumba tomorrow... so I better lay low on the "treats" tonight or I'll pay for it in the morning.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
You're so talented and caring! I agree Bryn is talented, as well, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree! My granddaughter, Grace, is going to a Halloween party and trick or treating with friends, she is dressed as Ellen and ready to take on anyone that doesn't like Ellen. You know women's rights and all. Happy Halloween, my friend, enjoy your warm home and cold wine! I will be going to my grandson's HS football game. Thanks for sharing.
