This past weekend was exhausting... or probably more draining than anything. We drove to Bob's home town in Illinois on Friday for his dad's wake, spent the night there & then got up on Saturday for the funeral. It was nice to be surrounded by family and friends this weekend, but hopefully next time we all get together it's under happier circumstances. Even still, we all enjoyed some laughs together. It was a nice family weekend.
Bryn stayed home Friday night with my parents so they could take her to her "Fourth Grade Musical" performance on Friday night. The 4th graders had been practicing & preparing for the event all year & I was so disappointed to miss it, especially since Bryn had been given a speaking part. My dad was able to capture most of it on video for us though and I'm looking forward to seeing the photos my mom took for me, as well. Frankly, I'm glad Bryn was there at not at the wake. It was a long night and I'd rather she remember her grandpa in happier times, than to have that be her last memory of him. My parents drove her over to the funeral in the morning and they joined us for the church service.
Very thankful to my always-supportive family & friends for all the kind words, cards, plants, flowers and hugs you've given us. We are truly blessed and so lucky to have you all in our life...
Hopefully your happy memories will help you ALL through this sad time!

I will say this: The one thing I always enjoy about funerals (wow, I sound heartless?) is getting to see everyone, chat with them, catch up, share good news/things with them, laugh with them.... So glad you got to see family/friends and for them to be able to help you guys through this time.

I so agree with Chris, that is a beautiful thing!! I so understand that you didn't want Bryn to attend the wake, I wouldn't do that either!!

I'm glad you could all find happiness with one another, even at such a sad time. Without family, it would be tough to make it through a lot of things in life. I hope now you are all able to rest and unwind.

I know the feeling...it seems like a strange time to enjoy time with family, but a situation like that really brings to light how important it is to do just that. Hugs!

I know how this can be... seeing family is wonderful... just wishing it were under better circumstances is another... Thinking of you and praying for you and your family... {{hugs}} Michelle
